The first day of June is a lovely one with the Moon and Venus connecting in the sign of Taurus.
What a beautiful time for pretty things, relationships, and overall harmony. Treat yourself to a relaxing massage, some wine tasting with friends or a romantic dinner out with your partner. The very next morning, the Moon enters Gemini and the urge to communicate grows stronger; however, the Moon is still in the last day of her cycle so she is in a winding down mood.
On June 3, the Moon joins the Sun in the sign of Gemini for a New Moon at 12 degrees of Gemini.
Look in your natal chart at where this placement will fall to consider what types of activities/themes could be highlighted for you over the next month. New Moons in Geminis are great times to initiate activities dealing with communications, learning, relatives, and short distance travel. The pace naturally picks up as the first waxing phase of the Moon’s cycle encourages you to begin something new.
On June 4, Mercury, which has been in its home sign of Gemini over the past couple of weeks, enters the more emotional and sensitive sign of Cancer. Now, both Mercury and Mars will be subdued in delicate territory, reacting more on feelings than objective facts.
On June 8, Venus leaves its home sign of Taurus and enters Gemini, lightening up the mood (especially around relationships and finances) over the next few weeks.
The Sun makes its once-a-year square to Neptune on June 9 which can create a bit of confusion and low energy. Permission to lay in bed daydreaming most of the day granted!
An opposition between Mars and Saturn on June 14 is like hitting the gas pedal and the brake at the same time and seeing what happens.
An explosion? Perhaps. Mars is debilitated in the sign of Cancer, which can be kind of a good thing in this instance, as it’s not operating at its full strength. (I would put my money on Saturn winning this tug of war.) Rounding out that intense weekend is a square between Jupiter and Neptune (the second of three this year) on June 16. Some astrologers are emphasizing this Jupiter-Neptune square this year; however, so far I’m not finding it to be exceptionally powerful or even that interesting to be frank. That said, it could send some mixed signals on Father’s Day. Tune into the spiritual/creative aspect of the placement and avoid the major escapist and fictional fantasy portion of this meet-up.
On June 17, there is a full Moon in Sagittarius.
Full Moons represent the flowering stage in the growing cycle, so it’s a time to reap what you have sown over the past couple of weeks.
Look for communications to be a bit extra honest (read: blunt) on June 18 as Mercury meets up with Mars in Cancer for an forthright, and likely emotional, chat.
And, the intensity continues the following day when Mars is opposed by Pluto – an aspect known more for its potential violence than anything else. Again, Mars has been mostly passive aggressive the last few weeks in the sign of Cancer, so the blow-out could be more of snide and sneaky powerplay than outrightly aggressive.
The highlight of the month is the Summer Solstice on June 21 signalling the official start of summer.
The longest day of the year, the Solstice is when the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky. The Sun moves from spring-like Gemini into fertile Cancer, and the focus on green, lush growth is in the foreground for the next month. No one loves their home more than Cancers, so spending time with family and friends at home or in cozy, comfortable places is the perfect way to honour this Sun. Get in touch with your feelings. Confide in a friend. Dust off your old journal and start a new entry.
That same day, Neptune turns to go retrograde. This will likely feel like a very subtle shift, but introspection, particularly on a creative and spiritual level, is highlighted during this retrograde period.
Watch for overindulgence on June 23 when Venus and Jupiter oppose each other with a low-resistance Pisces Moon egging them on in the background. (Put the pie fork down and walk away after your first piece.)
On June 26, Mercury leaves sweet Cancer and enters feisty “here I am world” Leo.
Communications grow bolder and more dramatic… just for a moment though. By June 28, Mercury has entered its storm period, about a week before it turns fully retrograde. Only a few degrees into Leo, the messenger god will retrograde back into the sign of Cancer mid-July to finish some last minute business, so we aren’t entirely done with Cancer yet.
Be sure to start any new important projects before those last few days of June wherever possible.
