Happy Pumpkin Latte Month! What’s in store for this month? Well, October is perhaps less frustrating than September with all of its Neptunian interference, but this month is also a bit more elusive and darker as the sign of Scorpio makes an entrance. Here are the details!
The month starts off with a Venus-Pluto square on October 1 which usually signals some intensity around relationships or finances.
It’s not the best day for an appointment with the bank. With a Scorpio Moon that same day, be mindful of extreme behaviour swings or power/control issues.
On October 3, Pluto goes direct.
You can forge ahead with your plans to take over the world… or maybe just take control of your life. Mercury enters Scorpio that same day, and everyone becomes a private detective. Communications become deeper, pricklier and perhaps even a bit secretive. Normally Mercury stays in a sign for about three weeks, but because of the upcoming retrograde at the end of the month, Mercury will stay in Scorpio for a whopping nine weeks. Pull out those detective novels and cue up the suspense thrillers.
The next day, Mars enters Libra.
Mars is a planet of action and assertion. It wants to forge ahead now and ask questions later. In the sign of Libra, Mars is debilitated. Libra, the people-pleaser, avoids conflict at all costs and can become so paralyzed by pros and cons lists that the moment to take action passes. For the next six weeks, you might feel a bit torn with this energy.
October 7 might have a few bumps with a Mercury-Uranus opposition.
Communications and mechanical things can be erratic if not downright disruptive. And a Sun-Saturn square that same day can feel like a extra weight on your shoulders.
Venus leaves its happy place in Libra and enters Scorpio on October 8.
Intensity. Jealousy. Control issues. Power struggles. These are all the domain of Venus in Scorpio. If you know anyone with a natal Venus in Scorpio, you know full well that they might forgive, but they never forget. Then, on October 12, this obsessive Venus gets an opposition from Uranus. At best, this could mean excitement in relationships and finances; at worst, it could mean separations and sudden losses.
The Full Moon of the month comes in the sign of Aries (at 20 degrees) on October 13
With the Sun also sextile Jupiter, this Full Moon seems like a good opportunity to finish up projects in progress.
Canada’s Federal Election falls on October 21 during a Venus-Neptune trine.
(Rose-coloured glasses anyone? I just took a quick look at the birth charts of Justin Trudeau and Andrew Scheer particularly on Election Day. We don’t have birth times for the other candidates which makes it difficult to predict. But very interesting connections with the leaders of the Liberal and Conservative parties. I am definitely leaning towards one candidate. I think I will hold an informal “who will win the election?” class sometime in the next couple of weeks. Contact me if you are interested in attending.
The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23.
The harmonious nature of Libra is replaced by the dark, emotional and willful presence of Scorpio. The next month’s focus is about digging deep into the psychological and preparing yourself for winter.
October 25 sees Mercury enters its storm period.
This means that the planet is moving less than 40 minutes of arc each day as it prepares to go retrograde.
October 27 sees a tricky New Moon at 4 degrees of Scorpio.
I say tricky because Mars is square Saturn this same day. This energy feels like hitting the gas and the brake pedal at the same time. The result? Frustration… which will be further exasperated by a tension-invoking Sun-Uranus opposition the next morning. These two challenging aspects along with Mercury’s storm period makes it difficult to suggest starting a new endeavour on this particular New Moon. Perhaps using the penetrating powers of Scorpio to dig into some transformational work is the best use of this energy. Mercury and Venus connect in Scorpio on the 30th which lightens the mood slightly.
Halloween marks Mercury’s official retrograde motion.
The next three weeks will be about re-evaluating, reviewing and re-calibrating projects, issues and circumstances already in progress. Back up your computers. Avoid making car or large technology purchases if you can. Wait until late November. Need a refresher on Mercury Retrograde Dos and Don’ts? Get it here!
