Meet Melanie Joy

About Melanie Joy Astrology

Hi, I’m Melanie!

After dabbling in Sun Sign Astrology as a teenager, I was first introduced to astrology formally in 2003 when I took an introductory astrology class with the Canadian Association for Astrological Education.

I signed up just for fun, but after the first class, I was hooked.

It was like the mother ship was calling me home! I couldn’t get enough. To me, these birth charts—of celebrities, my family and friends (and of course my own)—were like DNA sequences; once you learned the code, the amount of information contained in them was mind-blowing. It was like taking the “red pill” in the Matrix and being able to see the underlying framework of all people as well as cycles and patterns of the universe.

Seven years after that (in 2010) I started seeing clients and teaching astrology.

It is a passion, a joy, and an unending challenge. I’m a certified graduate and teacher through the Canadian Association for Astrological Education (CAAE), a former CAAE board member, and I’ve lectured across Canada and the U.S. for organizations such as Kepler College, ISAR, OPA, AFAN, NCGR and Astrology Toronto. I also have a Diploma in Horary Astrology from the School of Traditional Astrology. My approach to astrology is a blend of modern Western techniques, ancient techniques, and a heavy dose of 17th century astrology based on the methods of Jean Baptiste Morin de Villefranche. But to you, I hope our session would feel like a wise friend who knows you extremely well offering some honest (but kind) observations and advice. My goal is for you to walk away feeling prepared, reassured and inspired.

I can honestly say that astrology has been a literal life-saver for me.

In 2012, I was seriously injured in a car accident and left with a permanent back injury. It has been a life-changer. I haven’t been able to return to my previous full-time work in writing, editing and communications. Being able to find the meaning in my darkest hours and to still contribute to society through some astrological work while dedicating a significant amount of my life to ongoing rehab has been essential to me on every level.

Like any good astrologer will tell you, my studies into astrology are never-ending.

That’s the joy of it. I am always learning new techniques and passing tried and true methods along to my clients and students. My latest adventure is the creation of a local non-profit astrology organization, Astrology Niagara, in April 2020. We have been hosting online monthly talks with world-class astrologers. I highly recommend checking it out if you are an astrology student at any level or a fellow astrologer.

A former College Writing Teacher, Career Advice Writer, and Communications Specialist, I hold a Master’s degree in Professional Writing and Communications.

Years of working in both the private and public sector has committed me to a high degree of professionalism.

Oh… and when I’m not talking astrology, doing rehab or finding typos everywhere I go, I also love music and have been a singer-songwriter for decades. Above all, though, I’m a mom to two beautiful little girls (Evie and Stella), an amazing morkie Roxie, and I actually have a husband who digs astrology. I count my blessings every single day.
