Here it is… July’s forecast.
At the beginning of the year, when I put together my annual forecast, and then again in March when I did a COVID-focused forecast, I felt like overall, July was not too bad. July felt a bit like the calm before the storm. My sense is that starting in late August into September but particularly in October and especially November, that’s when we will have some more real trouble. I realize there’s a Lunar Eclipse and Saturn is officially moving backwards towards the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction this month, but overall, I think we should enjoy as much of July and August as we can.
We enter July with five planets retrograde: Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto.
This gives us a certain level of caution and introspection which might not be a bad thing after all given the global situation.
July 1 – Saturn re-enters the sign of Capricorn.
This means we’re getting pulled back closer to the issues that occurred earlier this year. (Read: this isn’t a good thing.) We want to have Saturn move away from Pluto—not towards it. Some of my colleagues feel that this motion backwards will fairly immediately trigger more of what we experienced earlier this year. I’m going to stay optimistic and say, while this isn’t a good news story, I still feel like it’s (hopefully) not all going to fall apart this month, and it will be more “warning” territory if that makes sense. The good news is that Saturn never makes it far enough back to make an exact conjunction to Pluto again. It gets within about 3 degrees. However, Jupiter and Pluto will connect again one more time (in November) as will Jupiter and Saturn (in December). It ain’t over until well after these aspects are exact again.
July 4 – There’s a Lunar Eclipse at 13 degrees of Capricorn.
If you have a planet or angle at this degree and sign, it could be a particularly potent eclipse for you. A Lunar Eclipse is essentially a Full Moon on steroids and is therefore not a great time to schedule important events. With all of this intensity on the U.S.’s birthday, there could be more fireworks than necessary. If your birthday falls within a day of an eclipse, it can be an especially significant year for you, and it’s a great idea to see an astrologer.
July 12 – Mercury goes direct in the wee hours but remains in its storm period moving less than 40 minutes of arc per day until July 19.
A few days before Mercury goes direct, it makes a square to impatient and confrontational Mars which will linger for longer than normal as Mercury is stationary. Things might get a bit heated from a communications perspective so just keep this in mind.
July 14 – The Sun is opposition to Jupiter while the Moon sits next to Uranus that day.
It’s possible that there could be a surprising and/or larger-than-life vibe in the air. Just be mindful of the tendency for events, egos and feelings to get overblown.
July 15 – The Sun is in opposition to Pluto which further accentuates the tendency to overreact.
A solid, grounded Taurus Moon sends some harmonious aspects that day, so hopefully it helps keeps things fairly secure.
July 20 – Mercury is officially moving normally again. And, there’s a New Moon at 28 degrees of Cancer. (Check to see where this will fall in your chart.)
Even though it’s not an eclipse, Cancer Moons haven’t been the easiest lately given the stellium of planets in the opposite sign of Cancer—Capricorn. While we usually say that New Moons are great times to begin new activities in the areas of life ruled by the sign, when you’ve got three oppositions from the New Moon in Cancer to Jupiter, Pluto and then Saturn, whatever you try to initiate could be met with open resistance if not conflict.
July 22 – The Sun leaves behind sensitive and empathetic Cancer and moves into the sign of Leo.
As a fire sign, Leo is the life of the party. It’s about creative self-expression, showmanship and individuality at nearly any cost. The spirit of this Sun placement could be interesting set against these difficult times when we’re having to sacrifice our individual needs constantly for the needs of the group. Regardless, we’ve got a month of the Sun in Leo ahead of us. The good news is that the Sun is happiest in the sign of Leo; it’s like a king on its throne. So, enjoy yourself!
July 27 – Mercury squares Mars again (a repeat of mid-month) so communications could be a bit testy.
Venus squares Neptune that same day, and the Moon is in unforgiving Scorpio, so perhaps mark this day on your calendar as the official “bite your tongue day” of the month. Just try to let it go.
