Okay, before I launch into June’s forecast, I need to revisit a few things about May first.
Last month I said that I felt torn about May’s forecast because while I saw some larger shifts indicating a lessening or backing off of restrictions, I also saw turmoil and loss.
This turned out to be very true. What was fascinating to me was that a couple of weeks ago, I listened to an astrology podcast with Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best where they discussed Venus retrograde cycles. Nick mentioned that he has noticed a strong correlation between racial issues coming to the surface and Venus retrograde periods. Wow. Look what is happening all over the United States right now (and spreading around the world as I write this). In addition to the incredible instability from COVID restrictions, the U.S. is now dealing with rioting and looting in response to George Floyd’s terrible death at the hands of a white policeman. This is Venus retrograde at work.
I would like to emphasize again that Venus retrograde periods are difficult times in relationships. I have heard from a number of clients that they are having a particularly rough time right now in their dealings with others. My advice is to just stay the course for now. Don’t do anything rash. Between COVID and Venus retrograde, our relationships are really going through the ringer. Need a Venus retrograde dos and don’ts refresher to stay centred during this time?
All right… and now onto June in as few words as I can muster:
June 2 – Venus square Mars
This energy can agitate relationships and finances a bit more, but I’m hoping it stays fairly minor.
June 3 – Sun conjunct Venus
This shows an important point in the Venus retrograde cycle. It could also bring to the forefront the Venusian issues we’ve been dealing with since the Venus retrograde began including some illumination of racial tensions/issues.
June 5 – There is a Lunar Eclipse at 15 Sagittarius.
The Full Moon also squares Mars and Neptune which is at first combative and then confusing/sacrificial. This is a highly charged day. Lunar eclipses usually prompt us to deal with completions and endings to ongoing issues. If you are Sagittarius dominant—or if you have any planet at 15 degrees of Sagittarius—be extra mindful of where this is in your chart to know where this intensity will manifest. If your birthday is June 4-6, you are in for a very significant year.
June 6 – Sun-Mars square
This is a hot-headed, impatient and aggressive aspect particularly following an intense Lunar Eclipse, so just be mindful of this potential energy “out there”.
June 9 – Mercury enters its storm period before it turns retrograde which means it is moving less than 40 minutes of arc per day.
The storm period can be just as difficult as the retrograde period in terms of crossed wires, miscommunications and false starts. Need a refresher on your Mercury retrograde dos and don’ts?
June 11 – Sun-Neptune square
With this aspect, misinformation can be pervasive, so be cautious about what you are seeing and saying.
June 13 – Mars conjunct Neptune
This aspect only adds to the fogginess, and it brings in low vitality. Be careful what causes you’re fighting for because you might not have all the information.
June 18 – Mercury goes retrograde in the sign of Cancer.
With this planet in Cancer, the “re” focus of the retrograde period could be revisiting family issues, repairing things around the house, reconnecting with family members and re-evaluating how you nurture others. Here’s a great example of a Mercury retrograde in Cancer project that I’m planning on doing at this time: after not having printed photos I’ve taken for the last eight years, I finally got them all organized, sent them to Blacks online to be printed (all 1200 of them), and I’ll be spending this time organizing these photos into albums.
June 20 – The Summer Solstice is here!
Did you hear that Stonehenge’s magical Summer Solstice will be broadcast live this year for the first time in its history? We get our longest day of sunlight this year. This of course also signals the Sun’s entrance into the sign of Cancer whose sensitive and emotional presence will be significantly felt within 24 hours.
June 21 – There’s a potent Solar Eclipse at 0 degrees of Cancer on the Summer Solstice which lands on Father’s Day this year.
Solar Eclipses are significant enough, but 0 degrees of a cardinal sign is known as an Aries point, and it is a critical placement showing a major triggering/instigative point. It will be interesting to see what is happening on a global level at this time. If your birthday is June 20-22, this could be a very intense year for you.
June 23 – Neptune goes retrograde for next five months.
This is one of the only retrograde placements where we can actually remove the rose-coloured glasses we’ve been wearing for months and see things as they really are. This will be interesting from a COVID perspective and what information might come to light at this time.
But… Neptune’s retrograde motion now means that we have six planets retrograde in the sky—an unusually high number: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto are all retrograde.
Only Mars and Uranus are direct as the Sun and Moon never go retrograde. With so much retrograde motion, this can be a super introspective time for us on personal levels (Mercury and Venus), social levels (Jupiter and Saturn) as well as global levels (Neptune and Pluto). But with all this backward motion, I can’t help but get the image of hitting walls, of not being able to push through barriers, of being suppressed and ultimately delayed or denied.
June 25 – Venus turns direct.
This is a step in the right direction; however, it will take awhile for the planet to get up to speed again and out of its shadow. This won’t happen for another month (July 29). I would expect the deep racial tensions and Venus retrograde type of issues continuing until then. Sometimes the shadow period can see the implementation of powerful changes, though, as a result of issues that came up during the actual retrograde period.
June 27 – Mars enters the sign of Aries where it will stay until January 6, 2021.
Mars usually only stays in one sign for six weeks; this is six months because of its retrograde that happens in September. Yes, Mars likes being in Aries and this will give everyone a little kick in the bum in terms of energy, but six months of Mars in Aries is a little too much for everyone. If you have significant planets or angles between 15 and 28 degrees of Aries, you will especially feel this Mars period particularly in the fall when it turns retrograde.
June 30 – Jupiter-Pluto conjunction round two
April 5 was first one. Watch for major global announcements and for things to blow up even more as Jupiter inflates the Plutonian crisis. This aspect is also often associated with major religious movements or global mobilizations. That said, there could be a cooperative energy with Jupiter here so there might be some coming together to strategize around the world. This is the second one with one more to come.
July 1 – Saturn re-enters the sign of Capricorn.
This means we’re getting pulled back closer to the issues that occurred early this year. (Read: this isn’t a good thing.) We want to have Saturn move away from Pluto—not towards it. I have a whole article about the historical precedence of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction which I would encourage you to read if you haven’t already. What I will mention is that a Saturn-Pluto was in effect during the eighties at the start of the Cold War. I am seeing headlines now talking about an impending cold war between the U.S. and China. A Saturn-Pluto conjunction was also present at the start of WWI. We should be worried about what’s currently going on in China and India. Forty years or more in the future, when we look back on the Saturn-Pluto conjunction of 2020-2021, we won’t just be talking about COVID. Buckle up. 2020 isn’t even half over, and there are more difficulties to come.
If you are having your Saturn return (with Saturn in Capricorn), your Saturn return experiences are not over. You will get to make sure you’ve really learned those lessons and/or wrap things up from now until the end of the year.
Looking ahead to July
With two more eclipses in July along with Saturn’s closing in on Pluto again, I can’t say July will be bringing more relief. I think we can all safely say that we need to just be in the moment and enjoy those moments we have of beauty, calm and fun in our own little bubbles because if we turn on the news or social media, our bubble instantly bursts. I’m not saying to live in a bubble and ignore what’s going on in the world, but rather appreciate those moments this year when you can forget for a moment about the bigger picture. Otherwise, it can get just too hard.
