My rosé-fuelled forecast last month received so many positive comments that you’ve officially given me permission to have a glass of wine while writing, so thanks!
Apparently, my husband likes me better after “at least one glass of wine” as well. Sheesh. Ever watch the episode of King of Queens when Doug and his father-in-law like Carrie so much better after she’s had a martini, that each evening when she gets home from work, they greet her at the door with a martini cart? Makes me giggle. We’re not quite there yet in our household but getting pretty close… Who doesn’t feel this way given the current state of our province, country, and world?
We all need something to make life a little rosé-er these days. (Wow. Guys, I feel like I’ve waited an awfully long time to be able to make a completely appropriate pun about rosé. That felt really good. It’s probably the highlight of my forecast, so it’s all downhill from here.)
May 3 – Mercury enters Gemini
Mercury leaves behind steady, careful Taurus and enters its domicile placement of Gemini. Mercury in Gemini has a rational, fairly clear way of communicating but it usually does so quickly and in a chatty manner which can be striking after being in Taurus. Don’t be surprised if the pace of conversation and communications picks up over the next few weeks with Gemini at the helm. As Saturn and Jupiter are both in Aquarius, Mercury in Gemini will be sending a lovely trine to these planets over the next several weeks giving communications an insightful (Jupiter) and realistic (Saturn) undertone, so I’m really liking this placement.
May 8 – Venus squares Jupiter & enters Gemini
Today, Venus squares Jupiter in its final moments of Taurus before heading into Gemini. When Venus and Jupiter get together in a square or opposition, self-control goes out the window. If you have this aspect natally, you likely have a sweet or salty tooth, or if you don’t get tripped up with food, you likely have trouble reining in the pleasure principle in some capacity. That’s why this aspect is often associated with Type 2 diabetes. So, this last little Venus-Jupiter square kind of reminds me of a person who starts a diet on “Monday morning”. On Sunday evening, they are shoving as many chocolates, chips, donuts and cookies into their mouths as they can fit (Venus in Taurus square Jupiter). Twelve hours later (as Venus enters Gemini) the person wakes up feeling sick at the thought of food and turns their attention to another pursuit instead… maybe learn a language? Start writing a book? Start reading more at least. Definitely socialize more.
Welcome to Venus in Gemini! If you were born with Venus in Gemini, some might call you fickle in relationships. I wouldn’t do that to you. I’m pretty fair. Perhaps, you could be a “wordie”… in love with language, words and talking. If not taken with words in some capacity, you could very much be the social butterfly.
May 11 – New Moon 21 degrees Taurus
My astrology teacher always use to say that the reason her garden always looked so nice was that she planted her flowers on the New Moon in Taurus each year (no matter what time it occurred). This new Moon happens at 8 pm EST so if you’d like to take her advice, get ready for some evening gardening. While Venus has left the sign of Taurus, this New Moon is very much about planting new seeds in a practical way. Where does 21 degrees of Taurus fall in your chart? Whatever house it falls in, perhaps plant some metaphorical seeds in this area of your life.
On a personal note, today is my holes-in-pants-hating Evie girl’s fourth birthday. Happy birthday sweet girl! xo
May 13 – Jupiter enters Pisces… Some hope?
Okay, here’s the moment a lot of astrologers have been waiting for in 2021: Jupiter’s entrance into Pisces. While this is only a “toe dip” of sorts since Jupiter only makes it 2 degrees into Pisces before heading back into Aquarius mid-July, it is something. And people, let’s face it. We all need something right now. How potent this small foray into Pisces will be, we’ll have to wait and see… I’m hoping it brings some relief to the parts of the world who most need it.
While we are certainly not India, here in Ontario, Canada, we are in the worst of it with COVID, and if people aren’t ill from COVID or know someone suffering right now, they are barely hanging on being locked down for so long. The mental health epidemic is also raging. Who knows what kind of impact it will leave and for how many years. We all need a break in a profound way. Let’s hope Jupiter in Pisces from mid-May to mid-July brings some of that relief we need.
May 22 – A Bad Communications Day
Mercury enters its storm (where it is traveling less than 40 minutes of arc a day) and it squares Neptune today. Yikes. Talk about crossed wires, dropped calls, misunderstandings and phone tag. If you’re looking for a screen-free day, this could be it. Take a mental health day and unplug. Go walk in nature.
May 23 – Saturn retrograde
Saturn stations retrograde today until October 10, 2021. The work horse in us could slow down a bit, turning introspective. When these outer planets change motion, I find so much depends upon our individual birth charts and what houses, planets and/or angles Saturn might be contacting, so I’m not inclined to make sweeping statements about this change in direction. In fact, my first draft literally read: “Saturn stations retrograde today… yadda, yadda, yadda.” I decided to class it up a bit for you though.
May 26 – Lunar Eclipse at 5 degrees Sagittarius
Okay, here’s our first eclipse of 2021… It’s at 5 degrees of the Gemini/Sagittarius axis. Should you have any significant angles or planets at this degree, just stay in your house and don’t socialize with anyone. Oh wait. That’s what EVERYONE will be doing because we are still locked down over a year later in Ontario. Feeling the rage come… Time for a top-up! Okay, that’s better. Seriously though, this lunar eclipse is a bit tricky with the Moon in Sag opposing the Sun in Gemini square Jupiter in Pisces. It’s a lot of big opinions.
I have already made a note not to check the headlines for a couple of days around here because the headlines will be even more “cancel culture” and enraging than they usually are, and my rage-o-meter is already ding-ding-dinging at the top most days. How are you all feeling about cancel culture? I wonder how each sign handles it differently. See, as a Libra rising/Pisces Sun & Moon, I just can’t handle it. We are all human beings. We all make mistakes. Why is everyone shouting “Off with their heads!” so fast? Ugh. Come on people.
May 27 – Venus square Neptune
Hurt feelings and misunderstanding are possible whenever these two square off. Also, if you find yourself face first into a bowl of cheezies, it’s okay. It’s hard to have willpower during these days, and an orange face is preferable to maxed credit cards. Oh yeah, avoid making big purchases, placing bets or making big money-related decisions today. Just write the words “Pink fog” on the calendar, and you’ll be okay.
May 29 – Mercury conjunct Venus & Mercury goes retrograde
Mercury will be retrograde until June 22 and out of its storm by June 30th. So basically, most of June we’ll be blaming all of our problems in life on Mercury retrograde. More on that in June… In the meantime, if you haven’t already backed up your computers and taken the appropriate communications-disaster planning recommendations I usually recommend before each Mercury retrograde, then do so immediately. If you were born with a Mercury retrograde, this is your time to sit back and relax. For the most part, I find Mercury retrograde people rarely suffer as much under its influence.
That’s all she wrote for the month of May.
I hope relief is coming our way.
(If not… pull out the chilled rosé.)
xo
See you in June.
Great recap! Thank you!
My pleasure Stephanie!
I’m enjoying your style of writing!
Informative.. yet entertaining…
Cheers Mel… (cuz that’s all we have these days lol 🍷)
Thanks Jayne! 🙂
