First off, kudos to my astrology students for predicting a Liberal Minority government in the Canadian Federal Election on October 21.
With Mercury having gone retrograde on Halloween, November gets off to a slow and likely frustrating start. There is good news this month, though, so be patient!
On November 1, Venus, the planet ruling beauty, relationships and finances, enters the sign of Sagittarius after having spent some unhappy weeks in Scorpio.
The mood lightens a bit under this optimistic Sagittarian influence with a more easy-going attitude towards Venusian matters.
November 5 sees a Mars-Pluto square which is usually pretty heavy energy.
Intense power and control issues, if not violence is seen with this aspect, so be mindful of what is worth fighting for and what is better left unsaid or undone just for today.
The next aspect worth noting is the Sun conjunct Mercury on November 11. This marks Mercury’s halfway point in its retrograde motion.
Venus squares Neptune on November 14 and relationships, finances or beauty matters might end up a bit muddied (especially with the retrograde).
I would keep things simple (just do your regular thing) if you have a hair or aesthetic appointment to avoid miscommunications and disappointment.
November 19 sees Mars, the planet ruling energy and vitality, enter the sign of Scorpio where it thrives.
This is nice on a cosmic level because Mars has struggled in Libra over the last few weeks not wanting to make waves and Scorpio is more comfortable doing what he needs to do to get things done in his quiet, calm yet firm way.
Mercury goes direct on November 20 but remains in its storm until November 25.
So, if you can wait for at least five days to begin new projects and ventures, it is advisable. That said, things can start to feel like they are returning to normal during this time.
The Sun enters Sagittarius on November 22.
The intensity, secrecy and depth of the last month evaporates, or rather, gets lit on fire with this new Sun. Sagittarius is open-minded, adventurous, optimistic and philosophical. The Sun has a pretty good time under this influence and ushers us into all the holiday celebrations leading up to the main event.
November 23 is my favourite day this month with a Venus-Jupiter conjunction in the sign of Sagittarius.
We are in the final weeks of Jupiter’s place in his domicile Sagittarius where good luck abounds; early December, the planet will head into its fall in the sign of Capricorn. I’m not saying the party will be over entirely, but think of it more like a solemn event that not many people want to attend anymore. The only problem with November 23 is there is an aggressive Mars-Uranus opposition this day. For someone who has a difficult natal Mars-Uranus aspect, this makes me nervous. When Mars and Uranus get together there is erratic behaviour at best, accidents/explosions at worst. So while November 23 has a lovely Venus-Jupiter conjunction, you might need to take shelter under this aspect when Mars and Uranus face off.
Mercury leaves its storm on November 25 and starts moving ahead at its normal pace.
Venus leaves Sagittarius this same day and enters steady, stable, dutiful Capricorn which can help clean up the mess of the Mercury retrograde over the last month.
November 26 sees a New Moon in Sagittarius at 4 degrees which is quite nice.
With Mercury tracking in forward motion, this new Moon inspires a celebratory spirit. What new adventure would you like to begin? What new class might you like to take? In what ways can you open yourself up to new possibilities? With the dream-seeking planet Neptune turning direct on November 27, the timing might just be right!
Our very last Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Sagittarius occurs in the wee hours of American Thanksgiving on November 28.
Upon waking, raise a glass to Jupiter in Sagittarius. Thank you for all you’ve done, Jupiter… the ways in which you expanded our minds, hearts and spirits. We will see you again in another twelve years!
