November 2020 Forecast

1 plus 1 equals 3

November signals one of the most anticipated months of the year given the U.S. Election.

People around the world (especially Canadians like me) are fascinated/nervous to see how events unravel (I mean, unfold). Last night I even saw a “Biden/Harris” sign on a front lawn in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Um, you do realize you live in Canada, right sir?

What does this month have in store? Here’s a peek!

Nov 1 – Mercury square Saturn

This aspect can feel harsh. Communications and thinking can be restricted, squashed even. With Mercury retrograde and square Saturn, all I can say is good luck with anything communications-related. There is a sense of things getting real and even some fears around it. This also sets up one of the difficult aspects for the election as this aspect will remain all week long.

Nov 3 – Mercury changes direction on Election day

Okay, here it is: what a lot of people are calling one of the most important elections in U.S. history. As you’ve probably heard by now, astrologically, the day is kind of a mess. Mercury shifts from stationary retrograde to stationary direct just before 1 pm EST. The last time a similar thing happened was 20 years ago when Gore ran against Bush. Do you recall how that went? A debacle, right? Who can forget the contested election with a “hanging chads” issue? I haven’t really encountered an astrologer yet who feels the U.S. election day will unfold normally and that a winner will be announced at the end of the night, and that will be that. Not only is Mercury starting the day off retrograde and then switching direction, but the planet is making three difficult squares to Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto. Mercury-Saturn implies communication difficulties/restrictions; Mercury-Jupiter signals over-the-top communication and embellishing facts; and Mercury-Pluto can be some extreme thinking. Accusations of cheating and fraud are likely in addition to actual legitimate issues with mail-in ballots having gone missing or not being counted, etc. I wouldn’t expect much of a resolution until mid-November, the earliest.

Nov 8 – Mercury leaves its storm period

This won’t feel like much of a consolation since Mercury is still in its shadow period, but at least the planet is travelling more than 40 minutes of arc per day once it hits the 8th.

Nov 10 – Mercury re-enters Scorpio

Mercury entered Scorpio on September 27, then retrograded back into Libra for a couple of weeks on October 27, and here it is again back in Scorpio until December 1.

If you missed what I wrote the first time around: I admire Mercury in Scorpio people for their incredible minds capable of being so quiet and observant and then coming up with a zinger of a question or comment that makes people really pay attention. Get in touch with your inner detective. Listen to some darker podcasts. (I’m kind of obsessed with podcasts like Serial Killers or Serial on Spotify and would highly recommend if you want to indulge.)

Nov 12 – Jupiter conjunct Pluto

This is the third and final hit for the year. The first two happened on April 5 and June 30. Could this be the good news we’re waiting for as Jupiter, God of the Earth, and Pluto, God of the Underworld, join forces? Or, will it just blow a huge issue even further into the stratosphere?

Nov 13 – Mars direct

Hallelujah! Mars retrograde stations direct. It almost feels like the hero in our story, who has been chained to the radiator, has broken free. We just need to wait for our hero to regain his strength and start functioning more normally again. (For those with important planets and angles between 15 and 29 degrees of cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) we have to deal with one more pass of Mars in Aries either conjunct, square or opposing those sensitive points in our charts which is going to take until January 2021, but then we’ll be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Nov 15 – New Moon in Scorpio

There’s a New Moon in Scorpio at 12:07 am EST at 23 degrees of Scorpio. A New Moon in Scorpio can highlight important, transformative events. Scorpio is the planet associated with the occult, sex, joint money, taxes, death and transformation. This can be a particularly intense time where deep emotions direct life. Scorpio has a way of making us deal with what we fear the most. If you are able to break free of your fears during this time, the rewards can be great. To find out how exactly how this New Moon will affect you, take a look at the house in your chart with 23 degrees Scorpio. It can be one of the focuses of the next month for you.

The Sun and Moon are also sextile Jupiter and Pluto which are quite nice. With Mercury and Mars now direct (although Mars is still not functioning normally) this feels like a more promising new Moon. The only downside is that Venus is square both Jupiter and Pluto. Venus square Jupiter usually signals overindulgences which usually doesn’t cause too much damage. Venus square Pluto is a bit more intense, and there can be some ongoing power struggles in relationships or even in the financial world.

Nov 17 – Mercury opposition Uranus

This is our third and final hit! October 7 and Oct 19 were the first two hits, and here’s the last one. Mercury, the planet of communications, in opposition to Uranus (who has quite the shock-and-awe reputation) can cause unexpected disruptions in your life. With the first two hits of this aspect in October, I noticed that I got a phone call or had an interaction with someone that rattled me—at least for the day if not longer. (In fact, October 7 started a series of stressful communications with someone that I expect to be resolved with this final hit.) Nervous tension will likely be high and technological irregularities are also possible.

Nov 19 – Venus square Saturn and Mercury returns to its retrograde degree

The good news today? Mercury will be returning to its retrograde degree which means it will finally be out of its shadow period. This could indicate that if we haven’t already heard about finalized election results, they could be coming soon. The bad news today? There’s an icky Venus-Saturn square which feels like a dark cloud spitting rain on your head for at least part of the day. It’s associated with disappointments and losses.

Nov 21 – Venus enters Scorpio and the Sun enters Sagittarius

There’s a shift today when Venus leaves behind harmony-seeking Libra and enters the depths of Scorpio’s lair. Not exactly known for its ability to forgive, forget and be gracious, Scorpio is a sign in which Venus struggles. If difficulties have been brewing in relationships, they could reach a peak/turning point with this placement over the next few weeks. But it’s all necessary, isn’t it? That’s the beauty of Scorpio. We need to travel to these depths in our relationships, to test boundaries, to embrace our darker sides, and Scorpio allows us to do this. The nice thing is that the Sun leaves behind Scorpio and enters sunny Sagittarius this same day which lightens the mood.

The Sun in Sagittarius is optimistic and adventurous. It seeks to expand its horizons fairly constantly and usually ushers in a time of more idealism and enthusiasm which coincides nicely with the beginning of the holiday season. While the holidays will look quite different this year, perhaps there will still be some of that Sagittarian playfulness, encouragement and cheer for the weeks ahead.

Nov 27 – Venus opposition Uranus

This aspect happens once a year and can cause some unexpected sparks to fly in relationships or finances. Venus is in Scorpio and Uranus in Taurus, so if you have planets in Scorpio or Taurus around 5-8 degrees, this could show up in your chart.

Nov 28 – Neptune turns direct

The planet ruling daydreams has woken up from its deep slumber and will be encouraging us all to move forward with our rosy visions. For those mutable signs who are being impacted by Neptune’s fog machine, your reprieve is over. But think of the beautiful things you can put into motion now that Neptune has shown you the dreamy and more selfless way of living.

Nov 30 – Lunar Eclipse

We end the month with a Lunar Eclipse at 8 degrees of Gemini. Full Moons are usually good times for bringing matters signified by the Moon sign to completion. Eclipses, however, are too supercharged for us to see clearly enough. It’s best to wait at least a few days before examining this part of our lives. Something could be brought to light today, but we need more information (coming December 14 with the Solar Eclipse). If your birthday falls within a day of an eclipse, it’s a good time to consult with an astrologer as you can expect a significant year ahead.
