September 2019 Forecast

What does September have in store?

Well, at first, it will kind of feel like you hired a practical life coach or home organizer who really knows her stuff, and you get these glimpses of her talent which excites you. You can picture what she is envisioning for your life… or um, closet… Organization. Efficiency. Minimalism. BUT – your sensitive, hippy, new age friend keeps interrupting her with oppositional thoughts about “tuning into energies” and just “letting things be”. How do you feel? Confused… at best.

The month starts out with four planets—Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars—in the sign of Virgo (the practical life coach/home organizer).

Along with Uranus in Taurus, and Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, the sky is predominantly earth. This means a practical, nose-to-the-grind, tangible approach works best for the first two weeks of September.

However, Neptune (your hippy friend) has something to say about all that linear thinking and planning during this time.

On September 4, Venus—the planet of beauty, relationships and money—is opposed by Neptune.

Watch for confusion and/or misdirection particularly in relationships or spending practices. Should you have a hair (or some other aesthetic) appointment this day, I would not experiment with a new look or it could end in tears when your stylist misinterprets your direction. Speaking of tears, look for extra tears a-flowing during the back to school week with this aspect. Kids might take it extra hard being separated from their parents.

On the 7th, Neptune then opposes Mercury, the planet of communications, and the confusion spreads into our daily life messages and interactions with others.

Also, technology, planes, trains and automobiles could be impacted by this influence. (Don’t be surprised if your computer misbehaves or your “system goes down” at work.)

Neptune strikes again on September 10th, when it opposes the Sun.

The Sun in Virgo is serious, dutiful and exacting. Neptune is, um, the opposite: sensitive, blurry and boundless. Watch your immune system and the tendency to feel insecure or wallow. If you have the urge to donate all of your belongings to charity, hold off another few days before stripping your house and packing everything up in your car. Put off making any big or important decisions for another day because you will likely have trouble deciding what to wear in the morning, let alone making a major life decision. Decision-making isn’t Neptune’s strongest point.

Neptune’s last major hit to the inner planets comes on the 14th when it opposes Mars, the planet of vitality and force.

In natal charts, this aspect can translate to addiction issues, an under-functioning immune system or even blood disorders. Essentially then, when this aspect forms in the sky, our volition usually drops; our self-confidence falters; and, our will to resist is pretty low. That same day, there is a Full Moon in Pisces, a sensitive and impressionable sign, reinforcing Neptune’s murky waters. If you are feeling like taking a mental health day, this could be it.

The good news, though, is that this same day also sees a shift out of duty and into something more social; both Mercury and Venus leave practical Virgo and enter the sign of Libra. [Venus does a happy dance.] Diplomacy, fairness and charm are the name of the game for the next few weeks. Thus, the 14th’s Full Moon really does see a transition into the second half of the month where Neptune does way less interfering while Saturn and Pluto step into the spotlight.

On September 18th, Saturn—the planet of time, rules and karma—turns direct.

It’s time to move forward on tasks that might have been on hold since April when the planet first turned to go retrograde. If you’ve done all the unpacking of the issue and revised your plans, now is the time to set it in motion.

If you are particularly sensitive to Mars or Pluto energy, you could feel just a bit invincible on the 19th when the two planets form a lovely trine. This indicates incredible stamina.

September 21st sees the last Jupiter-Neptune square of the year, and the final interference of Neptune this month.

This placement tends towards the overly optimistic approach which can lead to disappointments when reality hits. Forewarned is forearmed, right?

So, here’s the deal… your Neptunian friend is gone, but then your overcritical, judgy friend (Saturn) drops in, and makes little comments like, “oh, that’s what you’re going to do there? Hmm. Interesting.”

September 22nd sees a Mercury-Saturn square.

Okay, so this one can feel a bit depressing because Saturn can be a downer, pointing out all the flaws in your great ideas. If you feel like you’ve lost your mojo the next few days, hang tight. This is the last time this aspect will occur this year. This is also the last day of the Sun’s passage through Virgo.

The Fall Equinox rises on the 23rd when the Sun enters Libra.

Bye-bye home organizer and hello interior decorator. This first day of fall in the northern hemisphere calls for balance, and who better to usher in a day of equal light and darkness than the sign of the scales? It is officially goodbye summer. Goodbye beaches and hot, hot heat… goodbye sunshine and ice cream treats. Hello pumpkin lattes and pretty leaves… hello cooler evenings and longer sleeves.

I could never get away with a silly rhyme like that on September 25th when Venus is squared by Saturn.

Saturn would roll his eyes and tell me that is way too juvenile to post. If you need to sell your kids’ fundraising chocolates (or anything else), don’t choose this day (or a few days on either side) because people will likely be stingy with their money. Also, watch for extra bickering and fights.

Your judgy friend leaves. Phew.

Oh crap. Your super intense Goth friend shows up.

The 26th is a potentially tough day as well with a Mercury-Pluto square.

(You probably guessed that Pluto represents your super intense Goth friend.) The best use of this energy is to dig deep into some sort of investigation (even if it is a murder mystery book or show). Intense communications, if not power struggles or dark thinking are common during this type of set-up.

On September 28th, there is a New Moon in the sign of Libra at 5 degrees.

With four planets in the sign of Libra, and a sweet Venus-Jupiter sextile (read: beautiful partnership between the two most beneficial planets in the sky each in its favourite sign), the 28th and 29th are my favourite days of the month. They feel fresh and hopeful.

The last day of September goes out with a bang (hopefully not literally) as Venus squares Pluto for the last time in 2019.

This energy usually manifests in power and/or control issues or extreme thinking/actions around relationships or money.
